Interdisciplinary Programs: Coordinator: Bruce Darby

Vision Statement: The goal of this part of the Faculty Support Team is to provide support for faculty members interested in developing interdisciplinary courses and programs, as well as faculty members approached by students regarding self-initiated majors. For all three of these possibilities, the support person will help faculty members negotiate the following connected processes.
These are as follows:

• Development of interdisciplinary courses, interdisciplinary programs and self-initiated majors, including research into similar approaches at other institutions and best-practices regarding interdisciplinary course/program development and delivery. Self-initiated major possibilities will also involve research into best practices at other institutions
• Staffing consideration issues, involving departmental, divisional and provost office support for and/or concerns with any of these approaches
• Preparation of proposals for consideration by the appropriate curriculum bodies
• Monitoring of program successes/challenges, including regular, timely reporting to relevant groups (department, divisions, provost office, e.g.)
