The Student Health Center at Florida Southern proudly provides the Four Cs:
FSC’s Health Center staff cares about the health and well-being of every student. Registered Nurses are available during hours that the Student Health Center is open to assist students when illness or injury occurs. The Center’s dedicated health professionals have access to the full range of services in the Lakeland medical community, ensuring that each individual’s medical needs can be appropriately met. Nurses are always happy to talk with students.
Our staff provides “mothering without smothering. We encourage our students to visit us even when they are not ill. We offer Gatorade to students after they have had a workout at the Wellness, ROTC physical training in the am or a run around lake Hollingsworth. If a student is admitted to one of the nine beds available, we offer Chicken Noodle soup and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (which are rumored to be the BEST in Lakeland.) If the student is not medically able to attend class and is resting at the Student Health Center, we can properly administer medication, provide fluids and a quiet place to recover.
We hope your student continues to use the good health habits that they learned at home which include: adequate rest, frequent hand washing with soap and water or one of the many alcohol based hand sanitizers, no sharing of drinks with another person and continue to eat a healthy diet offered at the various food vendors on campus.
Please be aware that we follow the HIPPA Federal privacy guidelines and only share medical information if we have the student’s permission. A medical emergency overrides that policy if we need to get in touch with parents or significant other.
We are here to serve students; a healthy student enhances their chance for success while attending Florida Southern College.
