Florida Southern College was chosen as a "College of Distinction" in the field of Nursing for our innovative programs and engaged learning approach to education.
Health care has changed immeasurably since Florence Nightingale’s leadership turned caring for the wounded and sick into a profession. Our goal is to establish a caring, diverse academic learning environment that provides the highest standards of education in the rapidly changing world of health care.
Students work with patient simulators in the treatment simulation laboratory in the Joe K. and Alberta Blanton Nursing Building. This 8,600 square-foot, high-tech facility includes wireless classrooms, a technologically advanced nursing skills lab, faculty offices, and student and faculty lounges.
Each health sciences course at Florida Southern provides a quality, personalized learning experience and experienced faculty. Our faculty combines academic training with extensive hands-on knowledge of the health care field. The effectiveness of our faculty to teach and inspire our students is based on the fact that we understand the ever-changing requirements for success facing health care leaders and managers.
Clinical, Real-World Experience
Hands-on experiences begin in the 200-level courses, so you can apply theoretical knowledge early and make sure health care is the career for you. Internships and clinical work occurs in diverse settings, varying from central Florida hospitals to public health, long-term care and rehabilitation facilities, school settings, and sports teams.
