Internships & Volunteering

Internships and Volunteer experiences are a crucial part of experiential education — giving you the exposure, training, and mentorship necessary for a successful career in a highly competitive job market.

Many of these opportunities will look very similar. Try not to get caught up on the terminology of "internship" versus "volunteer". Instead look at each experience critically to determine  how it can expand your knowledge base, enhance your resume, and get your foot in the job market. Consider creating a way to compile the programs you are interested in, including relevant application information. One such template available for students to use is here: REU & Internship Tracking Sheet.
