World Monument Fund's 2008 World Watch
List
LAKELAND, Fla. (June 8, 2007) - The Frank
Lloyd Wright-designed buildings on the
Florida Southern College campus have been
included on the World Monument Fund's list
of 100 most endangered sites in the world.
The College has the world's largest
single-site collection of Wright's buildings
and is the only college campus designed by
the master architect.

nation's best institutions for undergraduate
education, according to The Princeton
Review. The New York-based company known for
its test-prep courses, books and other
education services, has selected Florida
Southern for inclusion in the forthcoming
edition of its popular annual "best
colleges" guidebook. Titled "The Best 366
Colleges: 2008 Edition" (Random House /
Princeton Review Books, $21.95 paperback),
the guide will be available in bookstores in

library archive - $1 million gift will name Sarah D. and L. Kirk McKay,
Jr. Archive Wing
LAKELAND, Fla. (Oct. 26, 2006) - Anne Kerr, president of
Florida Southern College, announced today a gift of $1 million
from trustee and long-time supporter Dr. Sarah D. McKay to name
the Sarah D. and L. Kirk McKay, Jr. Archive Wing. This addition
to Florida Southern's Roux Library will house archival materials
of The Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. Bishop
Timothy W. Whitaker, Bishop for The Florida Conference of the
United Methodist Church, was among the college trustees and
other dignitaries in attendance at today's press announcement of

Local Family Establishes Learning and
Literacy Center at Florida Southern College
LAKELAND, Fla. (Sept. 29, 2006) - Florida Southern College
President Anne Kerr has announced the establishment of the
Roberts Learning and Literacy Center, made possible through a
gift from Hal and Marjorie Roberts of Lakeland. The Roberts
Center will provide specialized instruction and seminars in the
early diagnosis and intervention for students with dyslexia and
other learning and literacy challenges.

Florida Southern College president announces
$2.5 million gift
LAKELAND, Fla. - Anne Kerr, president of Florida Southern
College, announced Friday a gift to the College of $2.5 million from
Lakeland resident and philanthropist Alberta Blanton. The gift will
enable the College to build the Joe K. and Alberta Blanton Nursing
Building, a state-of-the-art facility that will enhance nursing
education while allowing the College to address the critical nursing
shortage in the county, state and nation.

FSC in top ten of U.S. News college
rankings
LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College placed in the top ten
in the U.S. News and World Report 2007 college rankings recently
published in U.S. News and World Report's annual issue,
America's Best Colleges. FSC ranked 8th among "Comprehensive
Colleges - Bachelor's" in the southern region, up from 9th place
in 2006. The college also ranked 6th in "Best Value" in the
"Comprehensive Colleges - Bachelor's" category. (Click

Getty Foundation funds grant for historical
preservation of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture at FSC
LAKELAND, Fla. (July 26, 2006) - Florida Southern College has
received a Campus Heritage Grant of $195,000 from the Getty
Foundation, a program of the J. Paul Getty Trust in Los Angeles,
to develop a Historic Preservation Master Plan for the
buildings, structures and landscapes designed by Frank Lloyd
Wright and built on campus between 1939 and 1958. Florida
Southern is home to the largest single-site collection of Frank
Lloyd Wright structures in the world. (Click
