Florida Southern College jumped to 5th-place position among the nation's Best Baccalaureate Colleges in the South in the college rankings published today by U.S. News & World Report. This is the first time in the history of the rankings that Florida Southern has ranked in the top five. LAKELAND, Fla. (June 8, 2007) - The Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings on the Florida Southern College campus have been included on the World Monument Fund's list of 100 most endangered sites in the world. LAKELAND, Fla. (Oct. 26, 2006) - Anne Kerr, president of Florida Southern College, announced today a gift of $1 million from trustee and long-time supporter Dr. Sarah D. McKay to name the Sarah D. and L. Kirk McKay, Jr. Archive Wing. This addition to Florida Southern's Roux Library will house archival materials of The Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. Bishop Timothy W. 09/29/06   Local Family Establishes Learning and Literacy Center at Florida Southern College
LAKELAND, Fla. (Sept. 29, 2006) - Florida Southern College President Anne Kerr has announced the establishment of the Roberts Learning and Literacy Center, made possible through a gift from Hal and Marjorie Roberts of Lakeland. The Roberts Center will provide specialized instruction and seminars in the early diagnosis and intervention for students with dyslexia and other learning and literacy challenges. LAKELAND, Fla. - Anne Kerr, president of Florida Southern College, announced Friday a gift to the College of $2.5 million from Lakeland resident and philanthropist Alberta Blanton. The gift will enable the College to build the Joe K. and Alberta Blanton Nursing Building, a state-of-the-art facility that will enhance nursing education while allowing the College to address the critical nursing shortage in the county, state and nation. LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College placed in the top ten in the U.S. News and World Report 2007 college rankings recently published in U.S. News and World Report's annual issue, America's Best Colleges. FSC ranked 8th among "Comprehensive Colleges - Bachelor's" in the southern region, up from 9th place in 2006. 07/26/06   Getty Foundation funds grant for historical preservation of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture at FSC
LAKELAND, Fla. (July 26, 2006) - Florida Southern College has received a Campus Heritage Grant of $195,000 from the Getty Foundation, a program of the J. Paul Getty Trust in Los Angeles, to develop a Historic Preservation Master Plan for the buildings, structures and landscapes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built on campus between 1939 and 1958. Florida Southern is home to the largest single-site collection of Frank Lloyd Wright structures in the world. (Click here for full story)
