FSC
weathers Hurricane Charley
without serious damage
Florida Southern
College was fortunate to have weathered Hurricane Charley without
any serious damage. Most importantly, no physical injuries occurred
to students or staff on campus. One hundred fifty students were
safely housed on the campus during the storm. The campus experienced
the left side of Hurricane Charley that packed winds in the 100
mph range, as he moved up the center of the state. Campus damage
from the hurricane included a couple of large trees being uprooted,
roof damage to one residence hall and the expected roof leaks in
some of the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings.
College personnel
had prepared the campus earlier in the week as part of the hurricane
preparedness plan.
The FSC community
continues to keep our fellow Floridians to the south (Punta Gorda,
Arcadia, etc.) and our fellow neighbors on the east side of our
own county (Polk County) in our thoughts and prayers.
