Education professor
named to board of
Florida Council of Elementary Education
LAKELAND, Fla. (April
12, 2004) - Dr. Timothy R. Toops, assistant professor of education
at Florida Southern College, has been named to the board of the
Florida Council of Elementary Education.
The FCEE was established in 1952 under the direction of the Department
of Education to address the issues and problems facing elementary
education throughout the state of Florida. The group is represented
by all facets of elementary educators, including teachers, administrators,
school supervisors, and college professors. The FCEE council meets
two times each year to discuss current topics and make legislative
recommendations.
Toops joined FSC's faculty in 2000 after a 30-year career as an
educator in Ohio. He graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University
and went on to earn his master's degree as a reading specialist
from Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio. He received his doctorate
in education with emphasis in curriculum and instruction from Miami
University, Oxford, Ohio.
