FSC announces Faculty Volunteer
of the Year
LAKELAND, Fla. (May 13, 2004) - Bernice Sutton, business and economics professor, was awarded the Florida Southern College Faculty Volunteer of the Year award at the annual Honors Convocation April 21.
Sutton was recognized for her work with Paint Your Heart Out, where she served as treasurer on the board of directors, keeping the books and filing reports required by agencies and the IRS. Commenting on Sutton's work, fellow Paint Your Heart Out board member and FSC English professor Dr. Alexander Bruce said, "Think about how much fun it is to do your own individual tax return--all the hours and paperwork. Now imagine the paperwork required for completing a return for a small corporation--and then imagine doing it for free." Sutton has been with FSC since 2001. She received both her bachelor's and MBA degrees from Florida Southern.
