FSC receives $11,000 donation
from Lakeland South Rotary Club
Funds will be used to establish
an education scholarship

LAKELAND, Fla. (Jan. 19, 2004) - The Lakeland South Rotary Club donated $11,000 to Florida Southern to establish the Thomas Sheridan Memorial Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a Lakeland student in financial need who is pursuing a degree in education at FSC. The club will continue to raise money to add to this fund.

Sheridan, a Lakeland businessman, was a founding member of the Lakeland South Rotary Club and served as its president in 1970-71. He worked with Allen & Company for 44 years and became involved in many local civic, business and church organizations including the Civil Service Board of Lakeland, the Red Cross, United Way and St. Joseph's Catholic Church. A strong advocate for education, he helped to create the St. Joseph's School Foundation, serving for many years on its board.
