FSC receives $11,000
donation
from Lakeland South Rotary Club
Funds will be used to establish
an education scholarship
LAKELAND, Fla. (Jan. 19, 2004) - The
Lakeland South Rotary Club donated $11,000 to Florida Southern to
establish the Thomas Sheridan Memorial Scholarship Fund. The scholarship
will be awarded annually to a Lakeland student in financial need
who is pursuing a degree in education at FSC. The club will continue
to raise money to add to this fund.
Sheridan, a Lakeland businessman, was a founding member of the Lakeland
South Rotary Club and served as its president in 1970-71. He worked
with Allen & Company for 44 years and became involved in many
local civic, business and church organizations including the Civil
Service Board of Lakeland, the Red Cross, United Way and St. Joseph's
Catholic Church. A strong advocate for education, he helped to create
the St. Joseph's School Foundation, serving for many years on its
board.
About Florida Southern College
