FSC student receives
internship with
National Endowment for the Humanities
LAKELAND, Fla. (March
16, 2004) - FSC senior English major Brittany Melson has been chosen
to intern with the National Endowment for the Humanities in Washington,
D.C. She will intern from June 1 through Aug. 6 in the Office of
Public Affairs.
"Not only is Brittany an excellent student, but also she has demonstrated
great initiative in seeking and receiving this prestigious NEH internship,"
said Dr. Mary Pharr, English professor and Melson's advisor.
Melson, one of 18 interns chosen from approximately 200 applicants,
will receive a $4000 stipend to cover her living expenses. She will
work on administrative tasks as well as a project of her own choosing
in consultation with her mentor, who works in the Office of Public
Affairs. She is the daughter of William and Susan Melson of Lakeland,
Fla.
