FSC student Laura
Tomashek
discusses published article
LAKELAND, Fla. (March
10, 2003) - The English department at Florida Southern College will
present a discussion by Laura Tomashek, FSC senior and published
writer. The presentation will take place March 20 at 3:45 p.m. in
the William H. Danforth Chapel on campus.
"Laura is a nontraditional commuter student, and she has been a
remarkable member of our department as a student," said Dr. Bernard
Quetchenbach, FSC English professor. Her presentation, "Flight of
the Imagination: Charlotte Bronte's Use of Bird Imagery in the Novel
'Jane Eyre,'" is based on her article published in Oswald Review,
a national showcase for undergraduate research in English. In addition
to literary scholarship, Tomashek, a writing major, recently won
first prize in a national essay contest.
The presentation is free and open to the public. Refreshments will
be provided. For additional information, please contact Quetchenbach
at 863-680-4221 (bquetchenbach@flsouthern.edu)
