Florida Citrus Archives
holds
birthday celebration for Professor Tom Mack
LAKELAND, Fla. (Oct. 14, 2002) - Florida Southern's Thomas B. Mack
Florida Citrus Archives celebrates Professor Tom Mack's 88th birthday
on Oct. 27. The event is sponsored by the Florida Citrus Archives
Finance Committee and will be held at the archives' home, 901 Callahan
Court on the FSC campus from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The celebration kicks off a fundraiser for the archives, which contain
over fifty years of citrus history collected by Mack, director of
the archives and professor emeritus at Florida Southern. The collection
includes books, papers, periodicals, photographs, maps, films, and
citrus memorabilia such as fruit box labels, advertising placards,
and colorful letterheads. The organization hopes to build a $500,000
endowment to fund daily operations and ensure the stability of the
archives.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
