FSC theater troupe
performs "Lysistrata"
LAKELAND, Fla. (Oct. 31,
2002) - Florida Southern's theatre department presents "Lysistrata"
by Aristophanes, in the Loca Lee Buckner Theater on campus. Performances
begin at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14-16 and 21-23; matinees start at 2:30
p.m. Nov. 17 and 24.
The FCS production of "Lysistrata" is a modern adaptation of the
Greek Classic. Set in a trailer park and RV haven in a fictional
panhandle town, long-time male residents battle infiltrators who
would turn their hunting grounds into an upscale trophy game park.
The women, who have had enough, unite and agree to withhold their
"favors" from the men until they cease and desist. What ensues is
a comedy of errors and innuendo that follows the pattern of the
Greek comedy. Mary T. Albright, theatre arts department professor,
directs the play.
Tickets are $15. FSC students are admitted free. Non-FSC students
pay half price. For ticket information, please contact the Branscomb
Auditorium box office at (863) 680-4296.
