Florida Southern
holds winter commencement
LAKELAND, Fla. (Dec. 3,
2002) - Approximately 185 Florida Southern College students will
receive diplomas at mid-year graduation ceremonies on Saturday,
Dec. 14 at 10:30 a.m. in Branscomb Auditorium. Bishop Timothy Whitaker,
bishop of the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church
and member of the college's board of trustees, will deliver the
commencement address.
Graduating Saturday will be seniors from the college's traditional
day program (104), the Lakeland evening program (25), and the Orlando
program (45). Eleven students will receive their MBA's.
Frank H. Furman, a member of FSC's board of trustees, is chairman
and executive officer of Frank H. Furman, Inc., a general insurance
agency. He will receive an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree
in recognition of his career of service to the community, the United
Methodist Church, and Florida Southern College.
