Florida Southern
College presents
exhibition of artist John Briggs
LAKELAND, Fla. (Dec. 18,
2002) - Florida Southern College will present the paintings of artist
John Briggs in the Melvin Art Gallery beginning Jan. 9 and running
through Jan. 31. The artist will attend the opening reception held
on Jan. 9 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Briggs, a Florida native and Plant City resident, has a prestigious
record of exhibitions in Florida and around the country. His work
has been widely collected and is exhibited in the Polk Art Museum
in Lakeland. One of Florida's foremost artists creating naturalistically
rendered landscapes, he also paints large-scale narrative and figurative
pieces. Currently, he is working on a commission for the Queen of
Peace Church in Ocala, Fla., which measures 10 feet by 17 feet.
The Melvin Art Gallery is open weekdays from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and
before and during intermissions of most performances of the FSC
Fine Arts Series.
