thesis exhibitions
on display at Melvin Gallery
LAKELAND, Fla.
(March 26, 2002) - Florida Southern College's art department presents
its Senior Thesis Exhibitions in the Melvin Gallery beginning April
9 and running through April 26. This year, the art department will
present two exhibits, dividing the displays between the works of
the graphic design students and the painting and drawing students.
The graphic
design students will display their works from April 9-15, with an
opening night reception at 7 p.m. The juried exhibit will include
examples of both print and web design work (computers will be set
up in the gallery).
The exhibit
of studio art majors will begin April 16 and run through April 26.
Leslie Lerner, Chair of the Painting Department of the Ringling
School of Art will jury this show on opening night and will choose
the recipients of the John R. Reuter Art Awards. John Reuter, a
former English professor at the college, has provided for $1,000
in annual awards for graduating studio art students. The awards
will be announced at 8 p.m.
The Melvin Gallery
is open weekdays from 1 to 4 p.m. and before and during intermissions
of most FSC Festival of Fine Arts performances. Admission is free.
