Italian
chamber orchestra
performs at Florida Southern
LAKELAND, Fla.
(March 6, 2002) - Florida Southern College welcomes I Musici Di
Roma, a world-famous virtuoso chamber orchestra from Italy. The
12-member string ensemble performs March 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Branscomb

The orchestra
began in 1952 when 12 students at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa
Cecilia in Rome decided to form a chamber ensemble to revive the
music of the 17th century Italian Baroque. They called themselves
"I Musici" ("The Musicians" in Italian). Soon
after they began, composer Arturo Toscanini declared them "the
best chamber orchestra in the world."
Admission is
$20. FSC students are admitted free of charge; non-FSC students
are admitted at half price. For ticket information, please contact
the Branscomb Auditorium box office at (863) 680-4296.
