Florida Southern College senior
awarded $3,000 scholarship

LAKELAND, Fla. (Nov. 26, 2001) - Florida Southern College senior Barbara J. Gilbert received a $3,000 scholarship from the Harcourt Scholarship Program. The Program provides a $3,000 scholarship ($1,500 from Harcourt and $1,500 from the host institution) to a junior or senior student who has an interest in and demonstrates the skills related to publishing, including writing, editing, design, and advertising.

Gilbert will graduate in the spring of 2002 with a degree in communication. She is the daughter of Stephen and Mary Gilbert of Sebring, Fla.

The Harcourt Scholarship Program is administered by the Florida Independent College Fund, a not-for-profit foundation for program and resources development for the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida (ICUF). Based at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla., ICUF is dedicated to providing financial assistance to students attending Florida’s independent colleges and universities. Funds are granted by corporate partners who are equally committed to providing the best educational alternatives for today’s college students.
