Southern holds mid-year
commencement
LAKELAND, Fla.
(Dec. 4, 2001) - Approximately 214 Florida Southern College students
will receive diplomas at mid-year graduation ceremonies on Saturday,
Dec. 15 at 10:30 a.m. in Branscomb Auditorium. Hazel Haley, a Lakeland
Senior High School English teacher for 62 years and 1997 inductee
into the Polk County Schools Hall of Fame, will deliver the commencement
address. Haley is a 1937 graduate of Florida Southern.
Graduating Saturday
will be seniors from the college's traditional day program (122),
the Lakeland evening program (38), and the Orlando program (47).
Seven students will receive their MBA's.
FSC graduate
Robert Arthur Riedel '47 will receive an honorary Doctor of Business
degree in recognition of his career of service and leadership in
the hospitality industry.
