My teaching philosophy is based on a belief that knowledge gained through active and engaged learning will prepare students to function as highly skilled and competent managers across a scope of functions and industries. I encourage students to tackle problems creatively, which helps them learn to think outside conventional boundaries and to seek the deeper meaning of concepts These skills have been found to be important for business innovation as well as managerial success.

Biography

Dr. Krista Lewellyn is an Assistant Professor of Management in the Barney Barnett School of Business and Free Enterprise at Florida Southern College. She teaches the capstone undergraduate senior seminar and the MBA capstone strategic management courses. Krista’s teaching philosophy is based on a belief that knowledge gained through active and engaged learning will prepare students to function as highly skilled and competent managers across a scope of functions and industries. Dr. Lewellyn encourages students to tackle problems creatively, which helps them learn to think outside conventional boundaries and to seek the deeper meaning of concepts These skills have been found to be important for business innovation as well as managerial success.
Before joining FSC, she was a faculty member at University of Wyoming’s College of Business. Prior to her academic career, she spent several years as a senior manager for a Global Fortune 500 company. Krista’s previous corporate career gives her a deep understanding and respect for the immense challenges managers face in today’s global competitive arena. This provides sincerity to the learning experiences she provides in the classroom and the questions she explores in her research.
