The welfare of downtowns will be the focus of the annual Polk Real Estate and Economic Update symposium, organized by the Barney Barnett School of Business and Free Enterprise at Florida Southern College.
Hollingshead was appointed Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences in April and assumed his duties in July, replacing Dr. Jim Byrd, who left to become Dean of the School of Applied Sciences at Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass.
Geoffrey Freebern ’91, an alumni member of the Florida Southern College Toastmasters International Club, recently represented FSC in the 2013 District 84, Division E, Area 54 Humorous Speech Contest.
The study of parasites is not a particularly glamorous topic, but Dr. Langford’s research is paying dividends both in contributing to scientific knowledge and in supporting engaged learning at FSC. Last spring, he received a $25,000 Research Opportunity Award from the prestigious National Science Foundation.
