Former Louisiana Governor Buddy Roemer to Speak at FSC

Former Louisiana Governor and United States Congressman Buddy Roemer, who is an announced candidate for U.S. President, is scheduled to speak to Florida Southern College students and faculty on Tuesday, November 1 at 12:30 p.m. 

Student Organizations to host Q and A about campaign finance reform, world trade, and more

LAKELAND (Oct 27, 2011) – Former Louisiana Governor and United States Congressman Buddy Roemer, who is an announced candidate for U.S. President, is scheduled to speak to Florida Southern College students and faculty on Tuesday, November 1 at 12:30 p.m.  The event will be held in Rogers Auditorium of the Carlisle Rogers Building at FSC and is open to the public. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Interested persons should contact Julie Middleton at 863-680-3891 for more information. 

The event is being hosted by FSC’s College Democrats, College Republicans, and Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society.

Governor Buddy Roemer served four terms in the United States Congress from 1981 to 1988 and was Louisiana Governor from 1988-1992.  He served as both a Democrat and Republican.

Since leaving public office, Governor Roemer has been involved in a number of business ventures. Most recently, he served as the founder, CEO, and President of Business First Bank, a small business community bank with approximately $650 million in assets. 

Governor Roemer lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with his wife Scarlett, and is the father of three children. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Governor Roemer also will address the Southern Politics class at FSC at 10:00 a.m.
