"Leading Ladies" Kicks Off Theater Season

LAKELAND, Fla. (Sept. 16, 2010) -- Florida Southern College's Theatre Arts Department opens the 2010-2011 season with "Leading Ladies" in the Loca Lee Buckner Theatre on the college campus. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30, Oct. 1-2, and Oct. 7-9; matinees start at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 3 and 10. FSC Professor Paul D. Bwek directs.

The comedy, written by Ken Ludwig, is about two down-on-their-luck Shakespearean actors who learn of an elderly woman who is planning to leave her fortune to her two nephews. The actors draw up a hilarious scheme to pose as the nephews and collect the inheritance from the ailing woman. When they discover the nephews are actually nieces, the actors forge ahead and the plot thickens.

Tickets are $15. FSC students are admitted free; other students pay half-price. For tickets, please contact the Buckner Theatre box office at 863.680.3089 or bucknerboxoffice@flsouthern.edu. Box office hours are 2 to 6 p.m. weekdays.
