FSC Student Named "Best Senator" At Model Senate Conference

LAKELAND, Fla. (March 17, 2010) -- A Florida Southern College student was judged "Best Senator" and others in the FSC delegation also were honored for outstanding work at the 39th Annual Stetson University Model Senate on March 11-13 in Deland.

FSC sophomore Melissa George was named "Best Senator," and senior Catherine Rosekelly and junior Nathan Watkins received Honorable Mentions for "Best Senator." In addition, Melissa George, Catherine Rosekelly, and senior Chelsea Westover won an award for "Best Committee." Also competing for FSC were senior Derek Stroop and sophomore Joshua Vaal.

Dr. John Santosuosso, professor of political science at FSC, said, "I am proud of our students, as they bring recognition to our Political Science program and demonstrate engaged learning at its very best. I hope that their hard work and dedication may lead to more focus on major programs such as Political Science and funding for participation in more such events."
