FSC's Vagabond Players Present Musical "Bat Boy"

FSC presents Bat Boy The Musical!

LAKELAND, Fla. (Jan. 26, 2010) Florida Southern Colleges Theatre Arts Department presents Bat Boy in the Loca Lee Buckner Theatre on the college campus. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11-13 and Feb. 18-20; matinees start at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 14 and 21. FSC Professor James T. Beck directs.

Bat Boy was written by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming with music and lyrics by Laurence OKeefe. Based on a story in The Weekly World News, this musical horror spoof is about a half-boy/half-bat creature who was rescued from a cave and taken in by the empathetic wife of the local veterinarian. Edgar quickly learns to speak and act in civilized ways and falls in love with his mentor's daughter. Danger looms, however, as a deep, dark secret is revealed. Fast-paced and hilarious, this satire offers clever musical numbers, surprising twists, and a lesson in the agony of being different and accepting your inner beast.

Tickets are $15. FSC students are admitted free; other students pay half-price. For tickets, please contact the Buckner Theatre box office at 863.680.3089 or bucknerboxoffice@flsouthern.edu. Box office hours are 2 to 6 p.m. weekdays.
