Florida Southern Showcases Student Photography from European Visit

LAKELAND, Fla. (Aug. 24, 2009) — Florida Southern College presents photographs by students taken during their 2009 study abroad trip to Northern Europe. The exhibit is on display in the Melvin Art Gallery from Aug. 28 through Sept. 21. An opening reception takes place at 7 p.m. Aug. 28. The Gallery and reception are free and open to the public.

In May, Florida Southern students and faculty embarked on a study abroad tour of Northern Europe. Thousands of photos were taken by students in Professor Eric Blackmore's advanced digital photography class. The photographs in this exhibition document their travels to Amsterdam and Arnhem, Netherlands; Aachen, Köln, Berlin, and Kiel, Germany; Copenhagen, Denmark; Tallinn, Estonia; St. Petersburg, Russia; Helsinki, Finland; Stockholm, Sweden; Oslo, Flåm, and Bergen, Norway. The selected images were edited, refined, and printed by the students.

The Melvin Art Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and during intermissions of many performances of the FSC Fine Arts Series. For more information, please contact the gallery at 863.680.4743.
