FSC Jazz Ensemble Celebrates Valentine’s Day
LAKELAND, Fla. (Jan. 30, 2009) — Florida Southern College and the Festival of Fine Arts present the FSC jazz ensemble performing big band and small combo sounds, including love songs in honor of Valentine’s Day. The event takes place Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Branscomb Auditorium on the FSC campus. The concert features the FSC Jazz Band and two jazz combos with vocalists performing Cole Porter’s “Night And Day” and another much loved standard, “Body and Soul.” Nat Adderley’s hit, “Work Song,” will be performed in memory of his many efforts at FSC. The Count Basie Band arrangement of Duke Ellington’s “In a Mello Tone” plays for the Swing Era fans. In addition, the Band premieres a jazz composition written by one of their own, music composition major Andrew Boss. Tickets are $15.
