FSC Theatre Department Presents Tony Award-Winning "Parade"
The Festival of Fine Arts continues with "Parade." Performances begin Feb. 12. For more information, please call the Buckner Theatre box office at 863.680.4296. LAKELAND, Fla. (Jan. 29, 2009) — Florida Southern College’s Theatre Arts Department presents “Parade,” a Tony Award-winning musical based on a book by Alfred Uhry, in the Loca Lee Buckner Theatre on the college campus. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12-14 and Feb. 19-21; matinees start at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 15 and Feb. 22. James F. Beck directs the play. “Parade” is the true story of Leo Frank, a Jewish man who was wrongly convicted of murder. The musical, with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, covers not only the trial, but the love story between Leo and his wife Lucille. A subtle examination of class and race relations in the south, “Parade” is the winner of the 1999 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Musical Score. Tickets are $15.
