Five-time Grammy winner Kathleen Battle to perform at Florida Southern College

LAKELAND, Fla. (Oct. 23, 2008) — Florida Southern College and the Festival of Fine Arts welcome five-time Grammy Award winner Kathleen Battle on Nov. 7. The performance takes place at 7:30 p.m. in Branscomb Auditorium on the Florida Southern campus.

Battle’s lyric soprano voice and unique artistry have captivated audiences around the world, making her one of the most acclaimed singers of her time. Her repertoire embraces jazz and spirituals as well as a wide range of classical music. She has appeared on the stages of leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera and Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and the opera houses of Vienna, Paris, San Francisco and Chicago. She has performed with the world's great orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, and Orchestre de Paris. She has also appeared at the festivals of Salzburg, Ravinia, Tanglewood, Blossom, the Hollywood Bowl, Mann Music Centre, and Caramoor.
