LAKELAND, Fla. (Sept. 11, 2008) — Florida Southern College’s Theatre Arts Department begins its 2008-2009 season with “The Foreigner,” by Larry Shue, in the Loca Lee Buckner Theatre on the college campus as part of FSC’s Festival of Fine Arts. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25-27 and Oct. 2-4; matinees start at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 28 and Oct. 5. Mary T. Albright directs the play.
Larry Shue’s play premiered in 1983. The southern comedy is about Charlie, a shy Englishman, who visits a fishing lodge in rural Georgia. Charlie pretends not to be able to understand English to avoid the attentions of the other guests and he soon hears of scandals amongst them.
