Florida Southern College is garnering national headlines as Rocco Mediate ‘84, tees off today against Tiger Woods for the U.S. Open championship.

Rocco tied with Woods yesterday in the fourth round at 1-under-par. Mediate was a teammate at Florida Southern with two-time U.S. Open Champion Lee Janzen. The media were quick to point out the connection during the live television broadcast of the tournament, and Mediate himself proudly claimed his alma mater, adding a hearty “Go Mocs!”

Today’s playoff coverage begins at San Diego’s Torrey Pines at noon EST on ESPN. Students and friends will be gathering in Tutu’s Cyber Café to watch.
