FSC graduate among top winners of Beta Beta Beta Honor Society Award

Angela Munoz places second nationally following first place award last year at Southeastern district Beta Beta Beta meeting

LAKELAND, Fla. (June 11, 2008) — Florida Southern College 2007 graduate Angela Munoz took second place for her paper presentation at the national Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society meeting in Kentucky held May 26-31. Her achievement follows a first place Frank G. Brooks Award for her presentation at the Southeastern BBB meeting last year.

Munoz presented work that she started in the fall of 2005 studying the spread of the invasive channel apple snail in Lake Hollingsworth in Lakeland, Fla. She has continued to document the spread of the snail since 2005, recently enlisting the help of students from her biology class at Lakeland High School, where she currently teaches.
