LAKELAND, Fla. (Jan. 31, 2008) — Allison Mitchell, a senior at Florida Southern College, has been elected as a lay delegate to the 2008 General Conference of The United Methodist Church to be held in Fort Worth, Texas April 23-May 2.

This is Mitchell’s second time elected to the General Conference. In 2003 she was the youngest lay delegate ever elected from Florida. She will be one of 13 lay delegates from the Florida Annual Conference and one of 500 lay delegates nationally.

Mitchell is a math major and the daughter of James and Nancy Mitchell of Cocoa Beach, Fla.
