Florida Southern College student to give presentation at Florida Conference of Historians

LAKELAND, Fla. (Jan. 18, 2008) — Florida Southern College history major Eugene C. (Charlie) Fanning will give a presentation at the Florida Conference of Historians taking place from Feb. 28 through March 1 in Jacksonville Beach, Fla. The conference is hosted by Jacksonville University of Jacksonville, Fla.

Fanning’s presentation, “The Russian General Strike of 1905 as Perceived by the American Press,” is an expansion of a project he completed for a course in Russian history. Fanning is a junior at FSC and the son of Michael Fanning of Tampa and Kathleen Prendergast of Palm Harbor, Fla.

“We are delighted to have a paper by one of our majors accepted for presentation at a professional conference,” said Dr. Frank Hodges, the department coordinator.
