Burning River Brass to give Christmas performance at Florida Southern College

LAKELAND, Fla. (Nov. 29, 2007) — Florida Southern College and the Festival of Fine Arts present “Burning River Brass Christmas” on Dec. 13. The performance takes place at 7:30 p.m. in Branscomb Auditorium on the Florida Southern campus.

The ensemble of twelve brass and percussion players returns to our series for a special offering of the sounds of Christmas. Their performance includes familiar seasonal favorites, selections from the Nutcracker Suite, and Old World traditional carols.

One of the most respected brass ensembles in the United States, Burning River Brass made its debut in September of 1996 in Tremont, Ohio and by 1998 was touring nationally. They have recorded several CDs, including “Christmas Around the World,” released in 2005.

In concert, Burning River Brass presents a variety of music including fresh arrangements of classic literature as well as original works written specifically for the group. The ensemble has been heard on NPR’s Performance Today and Sunday Baroque as well as radio stations throughout the United States and abroad.

Tickets are $30. FSC students are admitted free of charge; non-FSC students admitted at half price. For ticket information, contact the Branscomb Auditorium box office at (863) 680-4296.
