Grammy winner Emanuel Ax to perform at Florida Southern College

LAKELAND, Fla. (Nov. 13, 2007) — Florida Southern College and the Festival of Fine Arts welcome award-winning pianist Emanuel Ax on Nov. 27. The performance takes place at 7:30 p.m. in Branscomb Auditorium on the Florida Southern campus.

A winner of multiple Grammy awards both as a collaborator with Yo-Yo Ma and Richard Stoltzman and as a soloist for his recordings of the Haydn Sonatas, Emanuel Ax has distinguished himself as a consummate musician and pianist.  His career includes appearances with major symphony orchestras worldwide, recitals in celebrated concert halls, and chamber music collaborations. He studied at The Juilliard School and at age 25 he won the first Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition. In 1975 he won the Michaels Award of Young Concert Artists and four years later the Avery Fisher Prize.
