Florida Southern campus leaders inducted into ODK
LAKELAND, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2007) — Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), the nation’s top collegiate honor society recognizing responsible leadership, tapped 22 new members during Florida Southern’s Feb. 14 convocation. New members were recognized for leadership and service in areas including scholarship; athletics and military; campus or community service, social, religious activities, and campus government; journalism; speech, and the mass media; and creative and performing arts. Membership in ODK is considered to be a mark of highest distinction and honor and is awarded to not more than three percent of the enrolled undergraduate junior and senior students. Only one member of the faculty or administration may be elected in a given year. Included in the membership of the Florida Southern College Circle of ODK are such well-known national and international leaders as Walter Cronkite, Gerald R. Ford, and Terry Waite. The following are among the ODK spring 2007 initiates: Jacqueline Barenborg is a senior elementary education major. She is the daughter of Edward and Teri Barenborg of Vero Beach, Fla. Christopher Corbin, a junior religion major, is the son of Ivan and Debbie Corbin of DeLand, Fla. Ivelisse De la Fe, a senior music performance major, is the daughter of Luis De la Fe and Alicia Rodriguez of Habana, Cuba. Brittany Denham is a senior music performance major. She is the daughter of Oscar and Patricia Denham of Tampa, Fla. Sharon Elliott is a junior athletic training major. She is the daughter of Catherine Elliott of Cape Coral, Fla. Raquel Encalada, a senior theatre arts performance major, resides in Lakeland, Fla. Andrew Flowers is a senior criminology major. He is the son of Gary and Jonine Flowers of Sharpsville, Pa. Kristina Heitmann, a senior English major, is the daughter of Julie Urso of Lakeland, Fla., and John Heitmann. Craig Hilgenberg is a junior elementary education major. He is the son of Scott and Robin Hilgenberg of Land O’Lakes, Fla. Megan Hoak, a senior English major, is the daughter of David and Susan Hoak of Longwood, Fla. Alyssa Huebner is a junior psychology major. She is the daughter of Richard Huebner of Branson, Mo., and Rorri Saint John of Largo, Fla. Katherine Knowles is a junior communication major and the daughter of William and Elizabeth Knowles of St. Petersburg, Fla. Rachael Kraemer, a senior biology major, is the daughter of Ronald and Linda Kraemer of Burnsville, Minn. James Bryant Manning is a junior sacred music major. He is the son of Joel and Laura Manning of DeLand, Fla. Mollie McCullough is a junior elementary education major. She is the daughter of Albert and Anita McCullough of Mulberry, Fla. Allison Mitchell is a junior mathematics major. She is the daughter of James and Nancy Mitchell of Cocoa Beach, Fla. Phyllis Morgan, a junior elementary education major, is the daughter of Richard and Kimberely Morgan of Flagler Beach, Fla. Jennifer Reiss is a senior music education major. She is the daughter of William Reiss of Edison, N.J., and Sheri Osburne of Spring Hill, Fla. Katherine Smith, a junior music performance major, is the daughter of Rollin and Charlene Smith of Zellwood, Fla. Jessica Steinke is a senior criminology major. She is the daughter of David Steinke of St. Mary’s, Ohio, and Teresa Harmon of Yorkshire, Ohio. Emily Sterling, a senior social science major, is the daughter of William and Jo Anne Sterling of Auburndale, Fla. Sarah Warren is a senior religion major.
