Preservation Hall Jazz Band performs at Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. (Dec. 4, 2006) — Florida Southern College and the Festival of Fine Arts present the Preservation Hall Jazz Band from New Orleans. The performance takes place Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Branscomb Auditorium on campus.

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band has been performing at Preservation Hall in New Orleans’ French Quarter since 1961 and began touring in 1963. Many of the early band members performed with jazz pioneers of the twentieth century such as Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton and Bunk Johnson. The band travels around the world more than 150 days a year and has appeared at Carnegie Hall in New York City, Symphony Hall in Boston, Monterey Jazz Festival in California and the Red Sea Jazz Festival in Israel.
