FSC theatre troupe presents “The Cemetery Club”

LAKELAND, Fla. (Sept. 7, 2006) — Florida Southern College’s theatre department performs “The Cemetery Club” in the Loca Lee Buckner Theatre on the college campus, as part of FSC’s Festival of Fine Arts. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28-30 and Oct. 5-7; matinees start at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 1 and Oct. 8. James F. Beck, associate director of theatre arts, directs the play.

"The Cemetery Club" is a funny, sweet-tempered and moving story of three long-time friends and Jewish widows in Queens, N.Y., who are in different stages of healing. The play uses humor, irony, and heartfelt emotion to examine the issues of dying, re-kindling romance, and starting life anew. Ivan Menchell, the playwright, also wrote the screenplay for the 1993 film starring Ellen Burstyn, Olympia Dukakis and Diane Ladd, based on his play.

Tickets are $15. FSC students are admitted free. Non-FSC students pay half price. For ticket information, please contact the Branscomb Auditorium box office at (863) 680-4296.
