Florida Southern hires new director of external relations
LAKELAND, Fla. (Nov. 2, 2005) — Chanel Dedes, an FSC alumna and former assistant to Representative Adam Putnam, has been hired to direct external relations at Florida Southern College. "Chanel brings to her position a wealth of experience and knowledge that will equip her to excel as the college's director of external relations," said Vice President for Advancement Robert H. Tate. "We are proud to have her as a part of our staff." Dedes graduated from FSC in 2000 with a degree in business administration. She concentrated in marketing and minored in mass communications. While an undergraduate, Dedes was an intern in marketing research, advertising and creative services at Publix Super Markets Inc. After graduation she served for five years as executive assistant to Representative Adam Putnam in Washington, D.C. As director of external relations at FSC, Dedes coordinates meetings, special events and travel as well as organizing and supporting the president’s council. "I am pleased to be able to apply my education and my experiences in Washington as director of external relations at my alma mater," said Dedes. "This is an exciting time to be working at Florida Southern College, and I am grateful to be back home in Lakeland." Dedes volunteers at All Saints Academy and First United Methodist Church, where she is a member. She is a member of the Junior League of Greater Lakeland and lives in Lakeland, Fla.
