FSC students win district advertising competition

LAKELAND, Fla. (May 31, 2005) — Five Florida Southern students, representing the college’s student chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), won the Fourth District National Student Advertising Competition held in April. The team will compete at the national level in June at the AAF conference in Nashville.

All competing student chapters created integrated marketing plans for a chosen client. The primary objective for this year’s client, Yahoo, was to increase awareness and use of the Yahoo site by boys and girls aged 13-18.

Members of FSC’s first-place team are Joleen Cacciatore, a senior communication major and daughter of Mark Cacciatore and Joyce Szymanski of Weston, Fla.; Nicole Clayton, a senior communication major and daughter of Donald and Sheila Clayton of Lakeland, Fla.; Brian Curry, a senior business administration major and son of Jay and Diane Curry of Lakeland, Fla.; Kristen Gerken, a senior communication major and daughter of John and Jeanne Gerken of Bradenton, Fla.; and Brendan Schloerb, a senior communication major and son of Arthur and Jean Schloerb of Holiday, Fla.
