LAKELAND (Feb. 4, 2013) – An innovative Florida Southern College faculty member has been named one of the top 22 education professors in the State of Florida.

Dr. Jennifer King, Associate Professor of Education and Assistant Dean of Academic Instruction & Technology, was selected by the resource website Online Schools Florida for inclusion in its list of the Top 22 Education Professors in Florida. She was one of just two professors from private colleges on the list.

Online Schools Florida is an information resource website about online higher education as well as an evaluation service about colleges and their various degree programs.

Online Schools Florida noted Dr. King’s outstanding reputation as an innovator in the use of technology in the classroom:

“In 2011, Dr. Jennifer King was recognized as one of the top 50 ‘Innovators of Technology in Education’ in the country by the Center for Digital Education. She has a reputation for using innovative methods to help K-12 (teachers) learn how to integrate technology into their classrooms.”

Dr. Tracey D. Tedder, Dean of the School of Education at Florida Southern, said the recognition is well-deserved.

“Dr. King has great acumen in teaching Instructional Technology. This is a great honor for her and the School of Education as we pursue excellence in the preparation of future teachers,” she said.

Dr. King received her doctorate in Instructional Technology and Educational Measurement and Research from the University of South Florida. She joined the faculty of Florida Southern in 2003. She regularly serves as a consultant for school districts and educational technology companies and leads summer training institutes in the utilization of technology in the classroom.
