Herbert E. Wolfe

Wolfe (1897- ) was a business and civic leader in St. Augustine, Florida. Wolfe was founder in the 1920s of H. E. Wolfe Construction Company, best known for road construction in several southeastern states. He was later founder and President of the Exchange Bank of St. Augustine, served on the city commission, and was mayor in 1948.

Wolfe was active in many civic and charitable organizations in St. Augustine, and was a member and steward of First Methodist Church. Wolfe served as Florida Southern College's Honorary Chancellor in 1945. He was a member of the FSC Board of Trustees, including service as Chairman in the 1950s and 1960s, and was a Trustee Emeritus into the 1970s.
