Panhellenic Building Demolition
Summer 2006 Demolition of two of the seven units of the Panhellenic residential life complex took place on June 6, 2006. By the end of the day, both western-most buildings had been razed, with only a portion of the front porch remaining. The buildings are being removed in preparation for the first phase of construction of the college’s new state-of-the art residential facility. This new complex is being funded by FSC alumni Carol Jenkins Barnett and Barney Barnett, and designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, an internationally-acclaimed firm. The unique design of the three new Y-shaped buildings will join Wright’s style with the campus’ Georgian buildings, guarantee a lake view for every bedroom, and incorporate a wall of windows and expansive lawn along the lake. Construction of the first phase is planned to be completed by fall 2007.
