Florida Southern College is "On the Move!" and seeking highly motivated and energetic Hall Directors. These positions comprise both Full-Time and Part-Time opportunities within First-Year and Upper Class communities. Hall Directors are professional staff members that report to an assigned Community Living Coordinator, supervise 7 - 16 resident advisors (RA), and oversee the management of 2 - 4 residential facilities. The Hall Director is responsible for staff supervision and training, administration, community development, student accountability, facilities management, crisis management, and supplemental work within various assigned areas. This is a 12 month live-in position with responsibilities for on-call emergency response.

Specific Job Responsibilities

Staff Supervision & Training
•Develop a team-centered approach to community management
•Directly supervise Resident Advisors - conduct weekly staff meetings and regular one-on-one meetings
•Participate in the recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, and recognition of RA staff
•Sets expectations for staff performance and administers staff accountability process as necessary

Administration
•Coordinate Residence Hall check-in and check-out procedures for assigned community
•Provide effective communication between the Office of Community Living and both residents and staff of the assigned community
•Hold regular office hours
•Maintain event planning budget
•Complete administrative processes and ensure accuracy of paperwork submitted (i.e. Occupancy Reports, Health and Safety Inspections, Program Tracking, etc.)
•Represent Community Living at College events
Community Development
•Be accessible and approachable to students and develop positive relationships
•Support staff in creating safe, inclusive communities in which all students feel welcome
•Implement the Community Living programming model designed to meet student needs
•Implement community development initiatives, such as roommate agreements
•Mentor and support students regarding social, academic, and wellness issues and refer to campus partners as necessary

Student Accountability
•Establish appropriate behavioral standards and enforce College rules and regulations
•Serve as a hearing officer for Student Accountability cases to address violations, apply appropriate sanctions, and conduct sanction follow-up
•Complete Student Accountability paperwork and maintain administrative records
Facilities Management
•Maintain positive working relationships with Facilities Maintenance staff to ensure assigned Community is well maintained
•Submit work requests to address facilities needs within the Community
•Conduct follow-up to ensure student maintenance concerns are addressed in an appropriate manner

Crisis Management
•Provide on call emergency response as part of a Hall Director duty rotation
•Respond to emergencies and provide guidance in crisis situations
•Implement emergency facilities management procedures

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS: 

•Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Must be able to attend all scheduled trainings and closings/openings
•Previous RA/Student Life/Housing experience required
