REGULAR FULL TIME EMPLOYEES
- Medical Insurance Plans
FSC offers employees a choice of three medical plans, two Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans and an Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) plan. Each of these plans includes a prescription drug plan and a mail order prescription plan. For more information on the medical plans or to locate a physician see: http://www.bcbsil.com
- Dental/Vision Plan
The dental/vision plan is a reimbursement plan that allows employees the freedom of choosing any licensed doctor or dentist. The Plan reimburses a percentage of the cost of services directly to the employee.
- Life Insurance
Two life insurance plans are available. Group term life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage is offered to each employee. A voluntary term life insurance plan is also offered that allows the employee to purchase additional coverage for themselves, their spouses, and/or children.
- Short Term Disability/Long Term Disability
The Short Term Disability Plan provides an income benefit of 60% of an employee's base salary if the employee becomes temporarily disabled. A 14-day waiting period is required. The Long Term Disability Plan becomes effective after the employee is unable to work for 90 days. This Plan also provides an income benefit of 60% of an employee's base salary. There are benefit maximums for these plans.
- Defined Contribution Retirement Plan
Retirement Annuity
The retirement plan is a 403(b) plan provided by TIAA-CREF. After a waiting period, the College will begin contributing to the plan on the employee's behalf. This is a non-contributory plan, meaning the employee does not have to contribute any of his/her own money to receive the College contribution.
Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity (Tax Deferred Plan)
This is an optional plan (a 403(b) plan also provided by TIAA-CREF) that allows employees to contribute their own money on a pre-tax basis. There is no waiting period for the plan.
- Holiday, Sick and Vacation
Florida Southern College offers paid holiday, sick, and vacation time for all eligible employees.
- Employee Tuition Grants and Exchange Programs
Substantial tuition awards applicable to the undergraduate program are available to all full-time employees of Florida Southern College, their spouses, and their dependent children.
To be eligible for the grant, the child of a full-time employee is expected to apply for any federal, state, and private source financial aid for which the child might qualify. When the applicant is eligible for a federal, state, or private source grant specifically awarded to cover tuition and/or fees, that grant will be applied toward tuition and fee charges. The remaining balance of the students tuition and fee charges will then constitute the students employee entitlement.
The grant does not cover any type of fees (activity, general, laboratory, etc.) except in the case where a student is eligible for the full tuition grant for a semester and is also eligible for a grant or grants awarded specifically to cover tuition and/or fees. In this case, (as described above) the combination of the Employee Tuition Grant and other tuition/fee grant(s) can equal the total cost of tuition and activity and general fees (not laboratory) for the semester.
Florida Southern College is a member of Tuition Exchange. Under the terms of this program, children of full-time employees may apply for tuition remission at another member college or university. A list of member institutions is available in the Student Financial Aid Office
