Celebrate Founders Day on March 18, when best-selling author and leadership expert Dr. Stephen R. Covey will be inducted as the College’s 76th Honorary Chancellor.
Dr. Covey is the author of The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People, The 8th Habit, The Leader in Me and, most recently, Predictable Results in Unpredictable Times. In 1996, he was named one of Time magazine’s 25 “Most Influential Americans.” Among his numerous honors and awards, he has received the International Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the National Entrepreneur of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award for Entrepreneurial Leadership, the International Man of Peace Award, and the Thomas More College medallion for continuing service to humanity.
The Florida Southern tradition of Honorary Chancellor dates to 1934, when Dr. Ludd Spivey organized the first Founders Day. Past Honorary Chancellors have included such luminaries as former President Gerald R. Ford (1984), Habitat for Humanity founder Millard Fuller (2004), and Secretary of the Smithsonian Dr. G. Dr. Covey will speak at a special 125th Anniversary Celebration and Founders Convocation beginning at 11 a.m. in Branscomb Memorial Auditorium. Alumni are invited to attend his lecture at no charge.
