Thad Buckner Building

Thad Buckner building, was the original E.T. Roux Library. Completed in 1945, the semi-circular multi-terraced portion of the building was the library’s reading room. Today the room, named in honor of college benefactor William M. Hollis, houses the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center and Esplanade Gift Shop. Built during World War II, its term of construction spanned a longer period than any of the other buildings. Wright trademarks of clerestory windows, fireplaces, and geometric influence can be seen throughout the building.
