Florida students are very fortunate to have a wide array of state-funded assistance programs for attending college in Florida. In addition to the Florida Prepaid Tuition Program benefits that can be used at Florida Southern, students may also participate in the following programs.
Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program
This generous merit-based program is funded by the Florida Lottery and consists of three award categories, each having its own criteria and award amounts. The criteria and award amounts for 2010-2011 are as follows:
Academic Scholars
1270 SAT or 28 ACT and 3.5 GPA
$125 per credit hour attempted and earned
Medallion Scholars/ Gold Seal Vocational Scholars
980 SAT or 21 ACT and 3.0 GPA
$94 per credit hour attempted and earned
Florida Resident Access Grant (FRAG)
A program administered by the Florida Department of Education, FRAG provides tuition assistance to Florida resident students attending private, nonprofit colleges and universities located in the state. In 2010-2011, $2,425 was awarded to residents attending a private college in Florida.
You will automatically be granted this assistance when you complete your application for admission.
Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG)
The Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG) Program is a need-based grant program available to degree-seeking, resident, undergraduate students who demonstrate substantial financial need. In 2011-2012 eligible Florida students will be awarded $1,400 annually for full time attendance.
Note: Students who received FSAG in the prior year must meet renewal criteria (2.0 G.P.A. at the end of Spring term for prior year, and minimum number of completed hours for term/amount awarded).
FSAG is a need-based grant and funds may be limited. Early completion of the FAFSA may be a consideration for receipt of award.
