Paul Butcher

Paul Butcher is a professional trumpeter, jazz pianist, composer/arranger, and educator. His first trumpet teacher was his father Allen Butcher, trumpet professor at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where Paul received a BM in Trumpet Performance in 1976. Paul received an MS in Trumpet Performance at the University of Denver under the guidance of Joseph Docksey in 1980. Other trumpet teachers include Vincent Cichowicz of the Chicago Symphony and Northwestern University, and William Adam of Indiana University. Past Professional work includes playing trumpet in the Air Force Academy Band; arranging, recording, and working in musician referrals with a music production/recording company in Minneapolis; playing trumpet and writing for live and studio situations (including TV shows, jingles, and recordings) in Nashville. In Florida, Paul has performed at Orlando's theme parks as well as with name acts, regional orchestras, Broadway shows, opera companies, recording and TV studios, and as a featured soloist with numerous jazz groups. He continues to be active in songwriting, arranging, composing, and giving master classes on trumpet, jazz, and music business.
